Speyside

Die Speyside ist eine kleine, nach dem Fluss Spey benannte Whiskyregion, die geographisch mitten in den Highlands liegt. In diesem Gebiet liegen die meisten der über 100 schottischen Destillerien. Es wird im großen Stil Speyside Malt produziert, der häufig sehr mild, komplex und elegant wirkt. Auf Rauch wird fast vollständig verzichtet. Fruchtige sind dagegen sehr beliebt, wobei nur allzu gern mit dem Sherryfass experimentiert wird. Single Malt Scotch Whisky's aus der Speyside gehören zu den beliebtesten auf der ganzen Welt, z.B: Aberlour, Macallan, Balvenie, Glenfarclas, Glenliver, Glendronach uvm.
